Reuben's name has been changed for privacy, but his story remains the same.
After passing his A-Levels in the midst of a global pandemic, Reuben went on to study English Literature at university, with the goal of achieving a First.
In 2024, that's exactly what happened! Reuben accepted his First Class degree, his parents proudly filming from the crowd. Then, it was PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) time.
Success was always on the cards for Reuben. Unsurprisingly, he smashed his PGCE and landed a role as a teacher at a prestigious independent school 🌠.
Just one month into his new job, Reuben was faced with a significant challenge. Called into a meeting with the Head, he was informed that a student had searched his Facebook profile and found photos of his drunken nights out at university.
Reuben had listened to many a talk at university about checking old social media content, and he thought he'd acted accordingly.
By the time the school was aware of the photos, they had already been sent to countless students, parents and governors, putting the school's reputation at risk. This resulted in an abrupt end to Reuben's time at his first school.
When Reuben came to us, he was eager for a fresh start. By taking control of his online identity, he was able to apply to other prestigious schools with the confidence that his Social Media Check would speak volumes about his character.
Just a few weeks later, Reuben got the fresh start he was craving.
"I'm thrilled to have been offered a place as an English Literature teacher at an independent boarding school in Greater London! I wish I got my Social Media Check sooner, but everything happens for a reason, so I'm just glad I found out about it when I did!"
What a win for Reuben! 🎉
